Norway: Bergen

Bergen is among one of the most popular tourist destination in Norway. Cheap flights
from Stockholm make it even more attractive to us. Check list to begin; Flights checked! In Norway you can't just stay in one city! There is a lot to see! Solution: rent a car, checked! But how about low budget accommodation? Camping is an option but carrying all the necessary camping equipments? Rain? Cold? Well, why not renting a cottage in a camping place? It is warm, comfy and has waterproof roof. Accommodation checked! Camera Checked! Well, ready to go!

Here is the plan. We are starting from Bergen, going south to Stavanger and heading east, passing national parks, all the amazing view... Twisty roads, rocks, Fjords, mountains, cities and more! It is only three days short trip but we had a lot to do and see. Keen to read and see the journey through my camera lens? Let's start then.

When we arrived to Bergen Airport, we had to wait to get our little Volkswagen Up! Yes, so little, but good enough for three people. Like it was not enough waiting at the airport, on the way to Bergen we were caught into traffic jam. Thus, the arrival to Bergen city center was in the afternoon. So we immediately started walking around and see as much as possible. Especially we had to find the famous funicular, Fløybanen, wasn't hard to do so. Getting on the top of the mount Fløyen is a must to do thing for all visitors. The view is breath taking. Also, I was surprised to find Norway warmer then Sweden, really nice weather for late June. Bright and warm day, how lucky are we?!

Being tourist usually means checking souvenirs, and Norway has some interesting ones. Check it out!

I should have bought the egg warmer, it could become handy...., well... not really. Why would anyone use an egg warmer?! Anyway, we are going back down to the city center and checking around. The food looked delicious but the prices could make you faint! We had some snacks in the car, and pasta for the dinner (yes, carrying pasta from Sweden, why not?! it was lying on the cupboard). So, do not expect me to present much from the Norwegian cuisine. Just small examples for prices, hot-dog + cola 59NOK (around 7€) at the gas station. Small snack of sea food at the street bazaar in Bergen 140NOK. Around 4€ for a bread in the supermarket!
Selling sliced watermelon?! No comment. Neither to the price.

And of course, it is impossible not to spot Turkish and Italian restaurants, and neither McDonald's ( I liked the building though).

We continued to stroll around the beautiful streets, and of course wouldn't leave without having a closer look at the Bryggen area. It is the old lovely Norwegian wooden buildings area just by the water.
Since the weather was nice, you could see locals enjoying their yachts, old cars, motorbikes. All those things made us have small stops, so the guys could have a closer look (hard to travel with men, well, just kidding, as long as I have time to take my photos, no complains).

Actually we did not really have much time to spend in Bergen. The ferry going to south had to be taken, cos the camping place we would stay was on the way to Stavanger. Just before that, here are some more photos from the city.

Road to Stavanger. The next day, we are planning to visit Stavanger. The sun goes down pretty late, around 11pm, but we had to reach our cottage, prepare the dinner and rest for the up coming adventures.
How can we skip "the Titanic Scene"?
Here is the lovely cottage, our home for one night. I left the guys there and went to take some photos around. When I had returned the dinner was cooked and served! How lucky am I? :)

They even prepared the dinner table.
The day ends here but not yet the trip.
To be continued...
